Common questions

How many parks does Brisbane City Council manage?
Brisbane City Council publishes 2,193 parks in its park locations dataset, ranging from pocket parks under 2,500 square metres to large bushland reserves. Many of them contain at least one recorded walking track, bikeway or mountain bike trail.
Which Brisbane parks have mountain bike trails?
Council records 20 km of dedicated mountain bike trail across its parks, a small share of the network compared with 101 km of walking track and 700 km of bikeway and shared path. The per-suburb pages show which parks carry each type.
Where are Brisbane's fenced dog off-leash areas?
Council records dog off-leash areas across 170 parks. 147 of those areas are fully fenced and 66 include a separate small-dog enclosure. Each suburb's parks page lists which of its parks has one and whether it is fenced.
Does this cover parks outside Brisbane City Council?
No. This data is published by Brisbane City Council and covers the Brisbane City Council area only. Suburbs in Ipswich, Logan, Moreton Bay and Redland are on the site but have no council park data, because those councils do not publish an equivalent open dataset.
What counts as a trail in these figures?
Only walking tracks, bikeways, multi-use shared paths and mountain bike trails. Council also records management access roads, ordinary footpaths, steps and ramps inside parks; those are service or incidental infrastructure and are deliberately excluded, so the trail figures reflect what you would actually walk or ride for recreation.
